BeamLine Projects (BLP) coordinator

Requirements:

Essential requirements (candidates must be able to show evidence for complying with these requirements, otherwise they shall not be eligible for the position):

•    PHD in either physics, mathematics, or other scientific disciplines related to the position.

•    More than 10 years of experience in the experimental environment of Synchrotron Light Sources.

•    Proven track of more than 5 years of experience in managing roles (considerable staff / budget responsibility) in the context of beamline developments and / or associated laboratories or infrastructures.

Additional requirements:

•    Effective communication capacity towards team members, key stakeholders, vendors, and everyone else involved in a project or operation, at least in English and Spanish. Catalan would be considered as asset

•    Project management capability to keep tasks and activities on track, according to schedule.

•    Leadership skills to effectively manage a team and offer coaching or motivation when required.

•    Organizational acumen to keep track of all of the various complex moving pieces involved in a project or ongoing operations.

•    Problem solving and adaptability required to be flexible and adjust as necessary.

•    Practical knowledge of Spanish procurement rules in the context of Research Infrastructures.

Function:

It includes:

(1)    For each project:

-    define goals, deliverables, scheduling, budget, contingency plans

-    coordinate all resources necessary for the design, construction and installation up to the commissioning phase

-    manage the schedule, assess and manage risks and deviations

-    monitor the budget in close collaboration with the Administration Division

-    measure and report progress to Scientific Director and Director

-    follow-up the technical feasibility

-    provide a final report when closing

(2)    Maintain a resource-loaded project management of the whole portfolio of individual projects, coordinated with the Resources and Operations (ROP) coordinator when considering shared resources, identifying resource shortages and developing improvement plans

(3)    Contribute to managing strategic grants and funding (project proposals, technical reports, operating indicators, support to justification and audit)

(4)    Follow-up and strategically prioritize procurement activities related to the BLP in close collaboration with the Administration Division

(5)    Report the BLP status in the Management Board Meetings

(6)    Knowledgeably contribute to the elaboration of strategies and plans
